Rocks Laneway
Client: Geraldton Building Services
Location: Geraldton, Western Australia
The Rocks Laneway Project was part of the City of Greater Geraldton’s scope to revitalise the foreshore precinct and provide a new pedestrian connection between the CBD food and shopping and the Foreshore. The local city council anticipates that it will be a feature space for year round community events and activities, including opportunities for local artists to exhibit and perform, attracting visitors to the area. The Rocks building was formerly a traditional retail building that fronted Marine Terrace and Foreshore Drive, and the former Post Office Building (image sourced from the City’s website) was transformed as an architectural interpretation of where the building formerly stood. This new structure is now called the Ghost Office. It provides seating in a shaded area provided by the timber structure. The original clock from the Marine Terrace tower has also been re-installed on the side of this structure.
